These baby killdeer and their parents are living in my Paint gelding's paddock. I went out to feed him this morning and saw he was tip toeing around. I thought something was wrong with him. Until I really looked down at his feet and saw he was walking so carefully so as to avoid the itty bitty, legs to long for their puffy little bodies killdeer babies. They were rushing in and out around his feet, while he was trying to come get his breakfast. There was a clutch of them in his yard last year and he did the same thing for weeks until they were big enough to leave. It is so cute. And hearing their parents screaming at them and me until they realize I am not there to hurt the little ones is just so funny.

I've never seen a cute little baby kildeer! I just love to stalk the big ones! I never catch them...
Hey Cubby. The baby killdeer are probably grateful, as they are so tiny, they wouldn't know how to react to such a big dog. But they are cute little things.
