About the riding capabilities of the Brazilians had those doubts put away for good this past weekend. The St Louis, MO event concluded Sunday night with a stellar championship round. It was one of the first weekends where the bulls fully won. Only three men covered all four bulls. And they were, you guessed it, three of the top Brazilian riders in the world. Renato Nunes won for the weekend, putting up an amazing 95.75 on Chicken on a Chain. That is now the highest marked ride of the season. He had a nearly perfect rider score, at 48.75. It doesn't get much better than that. Following him was Robson Palermo with and then the world number two Guilherme Marchi. Overall the event was wonderful.
However there are still a few nasty injuries to report. Another Brazilian, dancing Paulo Crimber, is out for 6-12 weeks with a C1 neck fracture. Ross Coleman has another concussion but is still riding. Travis Briscoe has a concussion from hitting the ground hard and is also still riding. JB Mauney suffered some minor injuries from his bull stomping on his head and body. His helmet was shattered and he is very lucky he was wearing it or he would be in a lot worse shape. And about fifteen other men suffered bumps bruises and lacerations which you can check out on the PBR's injury page. Cord McCoy also has some bruising from being struck while he was thrown by his bull. Talk about adding insult to injury!
